Limerick, Pennsylvania 2008
Today is the anniversary of the accident at Three Mile Island Nuclear Power Plant. It happened back in 1979. I didn’t move to Pennsylvania until 1984, but remember it well. With the problems in Japan, it is especially relevant.
The closest plant to us is in Limerick, Pennsylvania. I am only reminded of it’s existence when I visit my brother-in-law. It is a fascinating site, to me anyway. I always wanted to do a photographic study, but interestingly enough, am concerned with the photographic restrictions we photographers now have to deal with. You can be accused of terrorism for just taking pictures, but it’s part of our lives, I guess.
I did take these shots on different days, back in 2008. I decided to combine them for today’s photograph.
Hey David. Great pictures, as always. Not too far from where I live.
Excellent shots– the combination of the pastoral landscape and the industrial technology is always fascinating. The new Duke Energy electric plant in my home town is another example of that kind of imprint, which is actually done with a degree of care and accountability– for something of this magnitude– within the human environment. The big windmills in the Czech Republic are equally striking for the same reasons, and, like it or not, the growth of civilizations demands advances in technology.

That is a beautiful, well kept farm in the top shot, and a nice series taken together.
